Using Hyphens

Hi,

I am wondering whether cow print should be written: cow print or cow-print. I would personally write cow-print, but I am not completely sure which one is the correct way, so I would be grateful for help.

Thank you.

Hi,

'Cow-print' is not a common term. I'd say a cow's hoofprint.

Perhaps a cow-print could be the mark a cow left in the mud with its whole body, by lying down? In other words, the term is rather unclear as well as uncommon.

Best wishes, Clive
