Using however in a sentence with the correct use of commas.

Hello,
Please can you advise me on how i correctly use commas and 'however' in a sentence?
I want to write 'Growing old is inevitable, however, growing up is optional.' Is that correct punctuation or should it be 'Growing old in inevitable. However, growing up is optional.'?
Please help, it's driving me nuts!!

Thank you,

Rachel Crombie.

No.

or should it be 'Growing old is inevitable. However, growing up is optional.'? Yes. You could also use a semi-colon if you like. But a period is fine.

The correct way to punctuate that sentence is:

Growing old is inevitable; however, growing up is optional.

Hi,

A semi-colon is not essential, as I noted earlier.
I'd venture to argue that a semi-colon is never essential; it's a subjective matter of style.
