Using "Go" With and Without "To"

Hi All

"Go" verb is generally followed by "to" but sometimes we don't use "to" after "go". I want to learn why.

For example:

"I will go to school."

"I will go there."

Thanks

There is no logical reason. It is just that certain words can be connected to "go" without "to". These words can be used as if they were preceded by "to". The "to" is assumed.

go there, go home, go away, go back

The same is true for 'come': come here, come home

It's more to do with 'there' than with 'go'. The word 'there' can be used of a location or a destination. For a destination, no 'to' is required. The same is true of 'here':

Come to here.
