Using Gerund

I was wondering if these two are both correct?

"I'd recommend you contact them again, and ask about the issue"
"I'd recommend you contact them again, asking about the issue"

Thanks

Hi,
PooyanI was wondering if these two are both correct.
I'd recommend you contact them again and ask about the issue. -- No comma. Note the period at the end.

I'd recommend you contact them again, asking about the issue. -- Note the period at the end.

I'd say the comma is optional.
