Using "from" and "to" in a complex list

Hello!

What is the best way to write and punctuate a complex list such as the example shown below (punctuation intentionally left out).

From the first bell to the first recess to the lunch menu to the final bell--the day was a disaster.

Is there a better way to restructure this sentence?

Thanks so much!
