Using brackets ( ) mid sentence

Owing to differences in cloud type, modelling, and geographical location, clouds (followed by water vapour and lapse rate) were found to produce the largest and most uncertain spread in ECS, while surface albedo was found to be somewhat constrained.

Is it OK to use ( ) mid sentence? If not, can you help me to rewrite this sentence? Thanks.

It's fine. Parenthetical elements can be set off by dashes, commas or parentheses. They usually are placed in the middle of a sentence, and give additional information that is relevant at that particular point.

Brackets are sometimes OK, but sometimes are a sign that the writer has not bothered to try to express his meaning clearly.

Can you try to express your meaning more clearly without using brackets, perhaps by using more than one sentence?
