Using before or Earlier here

Hi please let me know which one is the correct one here.

1. I dont know this, you should have told me before.

or

2. I dont know this, you should have told me earlier.

They are both examples of comma splices. I would write:

I didn't know that. You should have told me earlier.

before is OK, too.
