Using apostrophe to replace letter

Hi Teachers,
Allow me to ask this simple question.
Apostrophe for "there is", "there has" is "there's".
Can "there's" be used for "there was"?
I've looked it up on google. But, I don't see the contraction for it at a couple of sites. Thanks in advance.
