Using adv "very"

Dear helper.

Please check the mistake of this sentence:

She is a very beautiful woman.

My friends said that do not use "very" in this situation but I do not understand. Pls advise

Why? Is it redundant? (I mean that beautiful already contains the "very" sense.) Even so, I do not think that it is wrong to emphasize on the sense.

I imagine they think that as beautiful itself means 'very good looking/very attractive' it is not right to put another qualifer 'very' in as well.

I think there are degrees of beautiful though; to me someone can be very beautiful.

"Quite beautiful" is not, well, quite as strong as "very beautiful".

If I am to hold a beauty contest, a quite beautiful girl may score 7/10 while a very beautiful one can score as high as 9/10.
