Hi. Is the phrase "I believe we're just talking" used correctly here?

"Why are you being mean?"

"Mean?"

"Yes. Where are you trying to go with this?"

"Nowhere. I believe we're just talking."

"Obviously you're in a bad mood right now, so I think we better talk about this another time."
