"Bathe" tends to imply actual immersion. To me, it is not very natural to "bathe" in a shower.

You can use 'shower' as a verb: We shower in the bathroom [although I don't know where else you would shower].

Usually there is a shower by any public swimming pool, or even on a beach. Not sure all the beaches have them but most do.
That's said, a shower is not a bath.

The simplest way to state all of this is: We showered.
