Use of yon/yonder

Would you find such a sentence correct (and hopefully amusing)?
"Not a single deign was given yon day."

I'm not getting any coherent meaning from it at all.

"Deign" is normally a verb, meaning to condescend, to find something below your level.
I tried to make an archaized version of "Not a single *** was given that day", hence use of archaic "yon".
