Use of whether and or

Hi

I have noticed many speakers (even natives) repeat whether instead of using or in "whether/or" construction. Is it natural?

A native speaker said someone like this in an interview I was recently watching.

No one ever gave me the answer...whether it was my mother, whether my uncle, whether my aunt.
