Use of 'weighed down'

Hi

Is the use of 'weighed down' natural here? Any suggestions?

Weighed down with wood, the donkey could not climb the steep path. (literal)

Weighed down with huge loans, he could not go very far in his new business/adventure. (figurative)

First sentence is natural. The second sentence can be re-written as Distressed with huge loans , he could not go very far in his new business/adventure.
