Use of watch and see

I know that watch is for telly. But sometimes people say i saw a TV program. Why?

Top answer

I watched a program focuses on the on-going process of sitting in front of the screen and paying attention to what is going on there. I saw a program summarizes all that by focusing only on the whole experience as a unit. In English we don't say "I was seeing a program".
