Hi
I bump into the word vitriol (severe criticism) every now and then in our English newspapers. However, some dictionaries describe it as literary. Could you please me how natural you would find it in everyday English?
Thanks,
Tom

I would call it neither 'literary' nor 'everyday', but 'educated'. Not everyone knows or uses the term.
