Use of verbs

I was wondering, which of the two sentences are correct:

She bought me a pair of shoes

or

She bought a pair of shoes for me

Or can both be used? I'm so used to hearing the second version being spoken by the locals here (Malaysia) so when I come across the first one, I get thrown off. Won't somebody help me clarify this? Thanks.

Both are fine and common. The end of the sentence carries a slight stress, so that may be more to the point of the utterance chosen, but they are essentially synonymous.
