Use of unplugged

Hi

I often see the word unplugged with celebrities' names when there is either an interview with them or a piece of news about them? What does it mean there?

(My dictionaries didn't help me much here.)

Amitabh unplugged (youtube interview)

Thanks,

Thanks, CJ.

...but I think there is more to it. The term is literally plaguing the newspapers and internet these days. It is used with those who apparently don't have much to do with music.

Probably. It may be a new usage (or more than one) which people far younger than I have invented recently, so I don't feel qualified to say more about it.

I think sense 4 at https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/unplugged applies:

Presented in a more low-key and intimate context than usual.
