Use of unloose

Hi

Today I came across the word unloose in an interview -- something like unloose the social bonds.

Could you please tell me how natural the word is in everyday English? Unloose the dog?

Thanks,

Tom

It's popularity has waned dramatically over the years. It sounds literary to me, typical of the Victorian era.
