Use of unknowing

Hi

Is the use of unknowing OK here?

I was in the room, unknowing that he was out there planning my murder.

Thanks,

Tom

"Unknowing," as an adjective, is listed in the dictionary, but in the US today it is almost never used as an adjective. The adverb, "unknowingly," is used however:

"He had unknowingly set off the burglar alarm."
