Use of think

Can we use the word "think" in an imperative way as in "Think that you were not destined to meet her"

or "Think that we never met" ? Here "think" means "believe even though something might not be true".

Hi, Can we use the word "think" in an imperative way as in "Think that you were not destined to meet her" or "Think that we never met" ? Yes. But the usual meaning, in my opinion, would be 'consider' rather than 'believe'.

Clive,

"Think that we never met"
Saying the above sentence to someone we just met would be equivalent to saying "Forget that we ever met". That means we do not want to remember the meeting, so there is an element of assumption to the "think" we used in the given sentence. So can we possibly replace it with "consider" ? Consider might give it a different meaning. What do you think ?
