Is it ok to say:<br/><br/>a) In New York are many shops.<br/><br/>I feel that there is a there missing and it would have to be<br/><br/>b) In New York <b>there</b> are many shops.<br/><br/>What about the sentence:<br/><br/>a) In the bottom of the picture are some flowers<br/><br/>Does it have to be<br/><br/>b) In the bottom of the picture <b>there</b> are some flowers.<br/><br/>I am confused, because I don't know in which cases the use of "there" is obligatory.<br/><br/>Can anybody help?<br/><br/>Many thanks<br/>maisiedaisie
