Use of the word "that"

I have noticed that the use of the word "that" before "the" has all but disappeared. Is it correct to say "I hope the book is good"? Shouldn't it be "I hope THAT the book is good"?

Thx.

  • That - has a another function besides being a relative pronoun.
  • In this usage, "that" works like a "separator" (not a relative pronoun).

Complementizer that can be omitted in most contexts.

The sentence is correct with "that".
It is also correct without "that".
