Use of the word "neither"

Google Translator provided the following sentence, which to me sounds fine. Does it sound fine to anyone else?

"The need for rest is vital, but neither is it about spending all the holidays lying down sleeping."

I need a 'not' to go before the 'neither' somewhere, or a 'nor' to go after it somewhere, so 'neither' sounds odd to me there. I'd have used 'not' instead.

it refers to The need for rest.
