Use of the word "more" with adverbs

Hi. Can we use the word "more" with just about any adverbs?

Hi Anon You can use "more" with a great many adverbs. You use "more" to create the comparative form of adverbs that end in -ly, however not all adverbs can be used comparatively. One that comes to mind is the word "merely", for example.

One that comes to mind is the word "merely", for example. I can't think of any context in which you might be able to use "more merely". And don't forget that not all adverbs end in -ly.
