Use of the word 'also'.

My local newspaper has a motoring segment that uses the word 'also' quite prolifically. Unfortunately, I stumble over the word almost every time I read it. Could you let me know which of the following sentences is more correct? And why it is more correct?

Cabin space also has been improved over the old models. (from the newspaper.)

Cabin space has also been improved over the old models. (from me.)

Thanks.
