Use of the verb "elapse"

Hi,

Could you check these two sentences for mistakes, please?

1. This value denotes how much time should elapse for the visa to expire
2. This value denotes how much time should elapse before the visa expires

Thanks a lot !

#2 is preferable to my ears. It's possible that this is not the most natural way to say what you mean. You may mean something like "This is the length of visa that you require", but it's hard to be sure.

Thank you MrWordy and Avangi for your replies

Hi,

So, if I have a one-year visa and a week and a half has gone by before I sit down to use your program, do I have to enter 355.5 days?

What about if it's a leap year?

I suggest the normal approach is to ask the person to enter an expiry date.

Best wishes, Clive

Basically, yes ))) You have to do some number crunching to figure out the number of days.

In truth, I'm not on board with it either, but I'm not calling shots at work, so I have to stic

Hi,

I got this wording from a US State Dept. site

the expiration date of the visa (validity period/length of time the visa can be used)

MrPernickety Could you, given the context I have keyed in, mend my "broken" sentences, please? ))))
Accepting your constrictions, and assuming the form being typed is dated, I'd say something like,

Please enter the number of days remaining before your visa expires.

This value represents the number of days remaining before your visa

Thank you, I appreciate your help )

If I get a 90 day visa at 1pm on Jan 1, and I use your program at 10 am on Jan 10, what should I enter when using your program? Good luck if this is the kind of situation you have to deal with.

I guess that means you won't be the first one in line to buy our p
