Use of the Preposition “Among” With an Uncountable Noun

Is it correct to use the preposition “among” in the below sentence? (The word “material” in this sentence is treated as an uncountable noun, and I do not know whether the preposition “among” can be used with it.)

“These books were among the only reading material which was on the small shelf.”
