Use of the phrase "the more the merrier"

1. Is it correct to say that I love to live with many people. I mean the more the merrier.

2. By the way, can we use the phrase "it's not a big deal" when talking about a problem?

EX: A: Living with many people can disturb your privacy.

B: Not really. I don't think it's a big deal.
