Use of the indefinite article(s)

Could you please tell me which of the two is correct: 'Mr. Jones, a Hypnotist and an Author...' and 'Mr. Jones, a Hypnotist and Author...'. Thank you.

Top answer

Anonymous 'Mr. ' and 'Mr. '.

  • Anonymous 'Mr.
  • ' and 'Mr.
  • '.
  • They are both acceptable.
  • The first suggests to me that Jones writes about other things than hypnotism (though he may also write about hypnotism) , the second that he writes (mainly) about hypnotism.

They are both acceptable. The first suggests to me that Jones writes about other things than hypnotism (though he may also write about hypnotism) , the second that he writes (mainly) about hypnotism. That is only a personal opinion.
