Use of the gerund after the verbs "to face" and "to excuse"

Hi,

Are the following sample sentences correct grammar/perfect English?

to face:
  • He couldn't face driving all the way to Los Angeles
  • Mr. MacArthur can't face selling the store.
  • Can you face dealing with him everyday?
to excuse:
  • Whatever their circumstances, it does not excuse doing such a thing to a defenseless animal.
  • They couldn’t excuse writing such a flabby document.
