Use of the article 'the'

From the sentence below, I believe it's grammatically correct not to use the article 'The' before the building name, "Mori Tower".

e.g.
I wanted to go to Mori Tower to take a great picture of Tokyo skyline .

Is my idea right that the sentence is correct? Could you also explain the rule why we don't need 'the' here?

Anyhow, this topic subject's confusing me as I ran into some article usage page on the internet. They said we need to use 'the' when mentioning about the name of famous buildings.

e.g.
We went to the Louvre.

Could you please shed some light on me on this?

The use of articles with names of buildings and other structures can be unpredictable. It is certainly not true that "the" is always used (for example, in London we have "Buckingham Palace" and "Tower Bridge", never with articles). If unsure, it is best to check how reliable sources write the name.

  • Unfortunately, in the case of "Mori Tower", usage seems, as far as I can tell, to be mixed.
  • It may be that there is no firmly established convention for this in English, so people make their own choice.
