Use of "the"?

Hi,

I quote this sentence from "How to write and publish a scientific paper" 5th edition by Robert A. Day:

"Another frequent problem in scientific writing is the verbosity that results from use of abstract nouns."

My question is that whether this sentence is correct or we should add "the" between "from" and "use" as " ... results from the use of abstract nouns.", anh why?

Hello Use of the definite article would not be wrong here, but the text is about scientific writing and the author mentions verbosity. In this context, he chose - probably for the sake of brevity - to remove 'the'. Hope this helps, John
