Use of 'square' as a verb

Hi

It just struck me that I wanted to add this word (square) in one of my recent posts about the use of certain words in our local English newspaper. I forgot to mention this in my list.

Does the word square in the sense of bribe someone sound natural to you?

All the officers needed to be squared before they would help us.

Thanks,

Tom

It appears with that meaning in only one or two of the dozens of dictionaries in OneLook.com, and it wouldn't be understood to mean that by most native English-speakers.
