Use of shave

Hi

In India and Pakistan, the word shave is used in many ways I am sure a native would not use. But still, I want to know how to make these utterances natural?

My shave is pretty hard.
(The speaker means to say that it is not easy for him to shave because his hair is thick and hard.)

A - How do you run the razor? Top to bottom or bottom to top?
(I am sure this utterance would sound absurd to native ears -- but this is how it is. The speaker is talking about the method of shaving. Some men run the razor up. This is supposed to shave better. Others run the razor down.

You didn't shave well. You left hair (on your chin/below your ear, etc).

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks, Clive.

...but I am slightly confused. Your use of e.g. in the first sentence leads me to believe that my sentence is OK and you provided me with the explanation. Or is it wrong?

My shave is pretty hard.

Thanks!

So what is the opposite of heavy beard? Light beard?

Is it natural?

I have a light beard, so naturally it's easier for me to shave.
