Use of "ready"

Dear Teachers,

I know that often, we use "ready" such as in "I'm ready to go", "ready to take action", etc., but can I use it to say that I've finished something, that I'm ready with it? Could you, please, tell me?

And if yes, can we drop the "with it"?

Thank you!

In the proper context you can use "ready" to mean "finished." For example:

A (to B): "We can go as soon as you finish your homework."

(B then hurries and finishes his homework.)

B: "Okay, I'm ready." (That is, I've finished my homework, and I'm now ready to go.)
