Use of reach

Is 'reach' used correctly, and does it have the same meaning as 'arrived' as in the below sentences?

We just reached Los Angeles.
We just arrived in Los Angeles.

I am assuming it is correct. Do you agree?

Yes, it is used correctly. They are similar in meaning, but arrived would usually suggest that Los Angeles was the intended destination (at least for now), while reached might suggest that Los Angeles was a point on the route to somewhere else. We just arrived in Los Angeles, and we're checking into the hotel.
