If you are quoting a portion of text that came from someone else's quoting of a book, for example, would you type:
"'The book is cherry red.'"
Or is sufficient to put the entire quoted section all within the same quotation marks, as follows:
"The book is cherry red."
In other words, is it important to note that the portion of text came from someone else's quote of someone else's quote of someone else's quote, in other words:
"''The book is cherry red.''"
That seems very cumbersome!
