Use of question mark

Should a question mark be followed after these questions, as it is not a direct question?

Guess what day it is.
Guess what it is.

Top answer

Guess what it is. Those are indirect questions and the question mark is redundant here. It's like I wonder what day it is ; I want to know what it is .

No. These sentences are in the form of a command, not a question.

Thanks. But to me they sound like questions because I am waiting for a response. Another example: guess where we are having dinner tonight?

Or should this one also not end with a question mark?

Got it, thanks.

How about this: can you guess ...........

Also, just curious, is that last sentence that I wrote correct with the question mark: should this one also not end with a question mark?

Thanks.

Only direct questions, including those containing an indirect question, end with a question matk:

What day is it?
Guess what day it is.
Tell me what day it is.
Do you know what day it is?
Can you tell me what day it is?
Can you guess what day it is?

Thank you. That was very helpful.

So are these correct with question marks at the end:

Should this one also not end with a question mark?

Can you guess where we are having dinner tonight?
