Use of Proceed and further

I want to know the diference between "Proceed" and "Further" when they are used together and separately.

e.g.

The login functionality doesn't work. We can't proceed to next page.

The login functionality doesn't work. We can't proceed further to next page.

What is the exact differrence when only "Proceed" is used and both "Proceed" and "Further" are used to altogether?

Thanks..

harry1999 The login functionality doesn't work. We can't proceed to the next page. This one is fine (as corrected).

  • harry1999 The login functionality doesn't work.
  • We can't proceed to the next page.
  • This one is fine (as corrected).
  • further (~ a greater distance) is not necessary because you have already specified to the next page .
  • proceed already means go further/farther; continue .

proceed already means go further/farther; continue.

It seems it can be used in a sentence like,

Before we proceed further, does anyone have any questions.

What does it mean here?

It means "before we continue", but strictly speaking it's redundant. Of course, redundancy is common in spoken English.

So, the word 'continue' is same as 'proceed further'?

I know Proceed means continue. Does it mean continue further?

Thanks

"Continue further" is redundant. "Continue" already implies "further".

Okay then, it's redundant to add "further" with 'proceed", is it?

Yes, but it's frequently done in spoken English anyway.
