Use of present tense to refer to future action
I am wondering about the use of present tenses when we talk about future plans, as in "I am having dinner with my friends tomorrow." or "The winter Olympics are being held in Russia next year." Is that only conversationally correct, or is it also proper grammar for writing etc.?
