Are both 'in and to' correct in this sentence?

Thanks.

Thanks teacher. I thought about that too.

How about 'he is suffering' or 'he suffered'?

And what about my question regarding the use of 'in or to'. Are both correct? if so, do they have the same meaning generally in this sentence?

'He suffered' is OK. The verb form is important for good English. The choice of prepositions is trivial there.

Thanks teacher. What about 'he is suffering'. I saw sentences using it. Is it correct also as in suffering now (present continous)?

No. A stab is too quick to be continuous.

Oh I see. I thought that the use of wound in ‘a stab wound’ implies that it is an injury/wound due to a stab. So does that mean that it is a stab and not a wound/injury?

I didn't; I just thought it was a redundancy.

I see. So it is just a stab and there is no need for the word 'wound' as you said it was redundant and does not affect the fact that it is a stab, right?

If that is the case, then only the past tense and present perfect seem logical to use (suffered and has suffered). Am I right?
