Use of ‘prepared’ and ‘alert’

Is there any redundancy in this sentence of mine using the words ‘prepared’ and ‘alert’?

The only thing we can do now is not to be contented but to be prepared and alert.

Doesn't seem overly redundant to me. It's a common phrase.
