Use of phrase "sought after"

Is it proper to use the phrase "sought after," as in "She is sought after as a speaker?"

Or should it read "she is sought as a speaker?"

Do you think a hyphen is necessary " sought-after " ? But when a hyphen is used, it looks like a ' noun ' ?

I think both look fine, but sought after just seems to flow better.

I have never seen the phrase spelled with a hyphen.

According to both my Oxford dictionaries it should be hyphenated, possibly to avoid confusion as to when something was sought. Example 'He was sought after the game.' (When was he sought? After the game).
