use of 'per'

Hi ,

Is there a problem with this sentence?

'Per our conversation yesterday, if you check account # xxxxxx, you'll find the cashed debit a little bit more than the deposit.'

I think maybe 'per' and 'if' going together sounds odd to me, while 'Per our conversation yesterday, I'm sending you the picture of ...' would sound OK- to me .

Thanks for comments.

PS. Perhaps due to some kind of tech problems, I haven' been able to get on Vocabulary And Idiom forum since yesterday, but I'd like to thank people for all their responses to my post there :-)

CJ could you please provide me with some more pieces of information about "per" and its usage? I don't think I had ever heard it before, which leaves me quite puzzled.

This usage of 'per' is really just a trite part of business jargon. You shouldn't speak like this, and my feeling is that there is no need to write like this either.

Instead of Per our conversation yesterday, you could say something like

I'm very grateful for your clarifying, Clive. I've read 'per' several times in e-mails from a friend of mine, and I'm glad I won't misuse it in the future.

Hello Mr. P,

Thanks for the tip. After two day's 'exile', I seriously very appreciate your sympathetic word!

Don't work too hard. Have a good weekend!
