Use of past perfect after the word "because"

Hi. Do you think it is necessary to have past perfect after the word "because" almost always? I think not.

He was rebuked because he acted/had acted badly in class.

In this case, the past perfect certainly makes clear the sequence involved, but how about the use of past?

Another example:

They were punished because they lured/had lured people into sinning.

In this case, the need to use past perfect doesn't come across as strong as the previous case, I think.

How about this? Do you think the use of past perfect in this kind of situation is something people need avoid doing?

He thought this person could use the extra money because he had a large family.

Hi Anon First of all, I don't think it makes any sense whatsoever to try to create a rule about the use of a particular tense with the word "because". Here is a sentence to illustrate my point: - I saved those boxes because I am planning to move next month. It is important to understand what the tenses mean and how they are used.
