Use of microscopically

Hi

Is the underlined part natural English? Any other suggestions?

James was too much to handle as a father. He monitored every single move of his children microscopically.

Thanks,

Tom

It doesn't work for me. Just omit the adverb. But if you must use something, I would choose meticulously or fastidiously, or a simile e.g. "like a nervous mother hen."
