Use of laundry

Hi

I am aware that the word laundry has these two meanings.

= dirty clothes that need to be washed
= clean clothes that have just been washed

Where I live, people often say dirty laundry. I believe it is local and would grate on native ears? Also, are these sentences completely natural?

Put your sweaty socks in the laundry.
Yes, your jeans are ready. You can take them from the laundry. (from the clothes which have just been washed at home.)

Thanks,

Tom
