Have I correctly used the article ‘a’ in the given sentence?

I believe that after a storm comes the calm.

The sentence is grammatical, but what is usually said is: "There's a calm before the storm."

Is it an proverb of English origin? I've heard it many times from friends.

It was Matthew Henry, a clergyman, who said "After a storm comes a calm."
