Use of if

I am not sure if we have this store here.
I am not sure we have this store here.

Are both correct or only the one with 'if'? If both are correct, which is better?

I am not sure if we have this store here. ~ I don't really know whether or not we have this store here (maybe we do; maybe we don't).
I am not sure [that] we have this store here has an underlying meaning of "I don't think we have this store here (we most likely don't)."
